During the 80s all the "employes" got a shared dining room and the reason for that was not the fact that the labours had cleaner overalls on. No, it was probably all the trouble that the company had been having trough the years that had made the workers more compatible to each other and also the new staff and their influence. |
The progress on the shipyard has gone from building wooden boats to steamboats and in the year of 1968 the sea measuring boat Johan Månsson left the stocks for its journey at the seas. This was the end for the shipyard making, not only here in Gävle, but also the big shipyards like Eriksberg, Götaverken, Oskarshamn, Finnboda, and Kockums went for the same destiny. A curiosity : "Gävle Varv built ships up to a.p 4000 deathweight tons. Kockums built oil tankers up to a.p 600.000 deadweight tons." |
