"When I shall die, it will be on Gävle Varv, with my boots on and not in the lost things ward in the police station among the bicycles"

These lines represent a true ship-yard worker at Gävle Varv, who despite his illness, longs for getting back to work in a cold, draughty, noisy and dirty environment, but not to forget a freindly environment.

You are someone when you work as a shipyard-worker, you have a real identity and a profession to be proud of..

This is a short description of the "Ship-yard spirit" at Gävle Varv. Why and how did the idea to this site come to me? Well, I got the idea one day at school when whe were told to start making a website of our own. The education that i attend is one for becoming a "Webmaster".

I searched the Internet to check if there was anything written about this old shipyard, but I did not find anything.

So I decided to go deeper in my reserach to try to make a site which would contain both fun and detailed descriptions of the shipyard.

My name is Tony Berggren and I got a connection to Gävle Varv through my father (Roland Berggren) who was one of three owners who ran the shipyard between 1979-1990.

When you have visited this site, I would be very pleased if you cold write a few words in the guestbook,to tell me what you think of it. If anyone has more material about Gävle Varv, send me a mail for notice.
